Professionally engineered Internet solutions for humans

Case study: TheLyntonScarborough.co.uk

The Lynton is a Scarborough Guest House. The had a website previously but they weren't able to maintain it so it became out of date. So with the new season, a new look: thelyntonscarborough.co.uk home page

I tried to reflect what was there before but stay within a reasonable budget. The menu structure is more or less what was there before, as is the colour scheme, and they provided the text. The photographs are mine: this project spanned my acquisition of a digital SLR, can you tell which were digital and which not?

Given their previous experience they were keen to ensure they could maintain the website themselves. They had lots of previous computing experience, so part of the project involved me loading BulletProofFTP for them and showing them how to amend the site in Notepad. It's not as hard as it might sound.

This took about twenty hours to complete (we met four times over that period) so cost just short of £1,000.

The client said they liked it, they were pleased, and that I'd done a good job. That's high praise from them, they said, because both used to be Information Technology project managers at the Ministry of Defence and it was their job to find and solve problems with software projects. I won't argue.
