Excellent food, lovely guest accommodation, lovely company
Mr & Mrs Taylor and boys, Manchester

Popular with couples who enjoy easy access to the relatively unspoiled beach at Scarborough's North Bay, it's also just a short drive to excellent walking on the North Yorkshire Moors and fossil hunting on the dinosaur coast.

Carlton Family Guest House is also just ten minutes walk from Scarborough's traditional shopping centre, has good pubs nearby and is almost opposite the Hollywood Plaza cinema.

Excellent as usual
Mrs Oldroyd, Northern Ireland

For a short, relaxing stroll or perhaps a masterful go on a rowing boat, Peasholm Park is moments away. Crazy golf and the Scarborough Bowls Centre are even closer. The family room at the Carlton Family Guest House, Scarborough, North Yorkshire

The adventurous might even learn to surf. OK maybe not, but it's still fun to watch over a cup of tea from a beachside cafe. If that's not exciting enough, we have a plush new casino nearby.

Events

Scarborough and North Yorkshire offers a truly fulfilling range of musical (Scarborough Jazz Festival, Beached, The Acoustic Gathering), artistic (Open Studios, Alan Ayckbourn's Stephen Joseph Theatre, The Spa, exhibitions) and sports events (Scarborough Cricket Club, Bike Week) every year, we certainly can't keep a tally of them all here so we'll delegate to Discover Yorkshire Coast.

Good bed, slept like a log. Delicious food and plenty of it.
Mr Pheasant, Birmingham

Scarborough and District Astronomical Society is worth a special mention for their public observing evenings. It's a particularly moving experience to see, for instance, Saturn's rings, for yourself (weather permitting of course). The moors is relatively free of light pollution, so even just a late night, clear sky drive across the moors can leave you awestruck. Very romantic. The tastefully decorated lounge at the Carlton Family Guest House, Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Find us

We are here (regional level, here (street level).

Scarborough is halfway up the UK's East coast, between Hull and Newcastle upon Tyne. It's about a three hour drive from Nottingham, two hours from Leeds, and about three hours from Newcastle Upon Tyne.

If you are driving, you'll probably find it easier to enter our postcode, YO12 7HZ into your favourite route planner (I use Google Maps). If you get lost, perhaps head for North Bay, turn in at the North end turn left at the island and left again immediately, and we are on the right up that road just past the Hollywood Plaza cinema.

We find many people travelling from the south visit Reighton Nursery on their way home. They have a huge range of plants (if you can't find what you want, just ask) and the best thing is, the prices are low. It's here.

Scarborough is well served by train, and the train station is about a twenty minute walk from us. National Rail Enquiries will give you train times. When out of the train station, walk down the main shopping street (Westborough), passing the Brunswick shopping centre on your right, and keep going until you pass Marks and Spencer on your right. After that, turn left along the road that crosses you, that's St. Thomas Street. Keep going, the casino on your left, the YMCA on your right, over the island, Fire Station on your right, Cricket ground on your left .. we are not far past the cricket ground on your left, number 150.

Fantastic, we'd love to live here
