Case Study 2 - Academic Books and Reports

I have worked on a number of academic books and reports over the past few years. My contacts are usually at the local university or people I have worked with previously. Word of mouth and recommendations work wonders.

For a book, I use a template provided by the relevant publisher and follow their instructions as to layout. I ensure that both spelling and grammar are consistent throughout. Sometimes chapters have footnotes that need to be re-arranged as endnotes in each chapter (or vice versa). Where references are given as footnotes, these are often inserted into the text in the Harvard system, removed from the footnotes section and inserted into the bibliography at the end of the book.

As soon as all the chapters have been typeset, I return them to the author who checks everything before it is sent to the publisher. The publisher will suggest any amendments they deem necessary and these are returned to me to deal with before the final version is sent back to them for publication.

Always ready for a new challenge
